As an en plein air painter, Carolyn Dover believes that the experience of painting alongside the subject “allows [her] to tap into an energy that does not exist in the studio. The sights, the sounds, the smells, the wind , the weather and changing light all combine to evoke excitement, emotion and passion. This is the reason that I do not alter the outdoor painted sketches.” From the open air sketches, Dover creates larger versions, which she then adds more detail and a personal style to the landscape.

Carolyn and her husband currently reside near Orillia Ontario.
