SNIDERHAN, Sara

A native of Hamilton, Sara Sniderhan began her art studies at the Dundas Valley School of Art. Her first show was at the Royal Connaught Hotel where her work sold well, and she received very positive response from both the public and the press. Subsequently, she attended the Michael John Angel Studios in Toronto, where she received drawing and painting instruction from the Maestro and his teaching associates, who followed methods similar to those practiced by the French Academies of the 19 th century. She has given workshops at the Studio in drawing, and the process of antiquing paper.

Sara is the co-founder of University in the Community at Davenport Perth Neighbourhood Center, a program which offers university level courses in the humanities to people who face barriers accessing post secondary education. She also works with The Parkdale Community Health Centre in Toronto, coordinating a youth art project. Sara teaches privately to students who have a wide range of artistic backgrounds and abilities

Sara has shown at the Junction Arts Festival, the Steam Whistle Brewery Gallery in 2004, and most recently at the Insideart show at the Metro Convention Centre, March 2005.

Sara's psychologically intense, realistically rendered paintings are charged with a vibrant and compelling symbolism that fuses ideas and dreams with literature and art history.
