Biography
Born in Poland, he came to Canada in 1948 and settled in Toronto. a still life and figure painter in impressionistic style he produced his work in pen and ink, watercolours, oil, acrylics and etching media. he held his first important solo show in Toronto at the Pollock Gallery in 1965. Viewing his work at Gallerie Fore, Winnipeg, in 1970 Jan Kamienski Winnepeg Tribune critic noted, "He is a Brilliant colourist. there is no hesitation in his use of strong color, but there is restraint in its application. a red is redder when set against a brown background. Yet, with all this, Podesva uses color deliberately and discreetly" His solo shows include: Pollock Gallery, Tor. (1965, 67, 68)' Gallery Fore Wpg. (1970, 75): Estee Gallery, Tor. (1974, 1977).
