Artist Statement
2023- The collection of artworks were produced over the last couple of years and reflects on Ron Eady’s personal journey of real or imagined situations or stories— sometimes observing from the outside as if it was all a dream. Much of the imagery situates figures and animals in what feels like the climax of a narrative, where the next action could change everything. There is a wonderful nostalgia and mysterious feeling that settles in the viewer when encompassed by the artist’s work. 2020- The works in my current series are inspired by the Urban and Industrial landscapes of Hamilton and other areas. Having the opportunity to tour the ArcelorMittal Dofasco steel making facility was a great experience that provided inspiration for a number of the paintings. I have always been drawn to the raw beauty of industrial architecture, landscapes and waterscapes with freighters and feel it works well with my chosen medium of encaustic. Working from my Hamilton studio I don't have to travel far to find inspiration.
