Biography
Ingo and Julie Doetsch are self-taught glass artists who have been working in their medium for over 40 years. Ingo was born in Germany, educated in the USA and came to Canada in 1970. Julie is from St. Louis, Missouri and joined Ingo in Canada in 1975. They currently live and work at a rural property in central New Brunswick.
They left their academic careers to engage in a simpler lifestyle in the country. Originally, working in stained glass, they have more recently concentrated their interests on kiln worked glass. They have produced a variety of art glass vessels, Ikebana glass vases, glass jewelry and other art glass items. Most recently they have been combining art glass and stones from the Bay of Fundy in vessels of a variety of sizes. They utilize sandblasting, extensive cold working, wheel engraving and other techniques in their glass art.
